Archie Joseph Ricord, known affectionately as Archie, passed away on October 26, 2023, at the Drayton Valley Hospital & Care Centre. He was born on July 27, 1944, in Prince Rupert, B.C.

Archie was a hard worker who took great pride in his family. He had an incredible sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. His infectious laughter and witty remarks could instantly put a smile on anyone's face. Archie's ability to find joy in the simplest of things made him a beloved figure throughout his life.

In his spare time, Archie enjoyed playing cards, with cribbage being his game of choice. Whether it was a friendly match with friends or a heated competition within the family, Archie's passion for the game never wavered. He also found great entertainment in watching TV wrestling and was an avid fan of the Edmonton Oilers hockey team.

Archie deeply cherished his relationships with his loved ones. He was a devoted husband to Joan for 54 years and together they built a strong and loving partnership. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Archie was also a loving father to Michele (Karl) Vanderleest and Leon (Sheri) Ricord. His children were the lights of his life, bringing him immense joy and pride. As a grandfather to Warren (Michelle), Nicole (Brandon), Lauren, Aaron, Brynn, and Ren, Archie relished in their achievements and celebrated every milestone with overflowing love.  He will also be dearly missed by his sister, Bonnie.

Archie was predeceased by his parents, Armand and Roseanne, and his siblings, Louis, Edward, Jeanette, Yvonne, and Donald as well as in-laws Edward & Fay Pretzer and brothers-in-law, Lorne and Roy Pretzer.

A private family service will be held at a later date, however, Archie's memory will forever be held dear by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The family wishes to express thanks to Cindy Prusko, Judy and Ken McDonald, Valerie and Alvin Stredick, Crystal Cox, Nathan and Angie Flynn, Fran Zerr, Tammy Mason and the girls for their love and support.

Also, a special thank you to the staff at the Red Deer Reginal Hospital for their special care.
