It is with great sadness that the family of Avolt Richert announce his passing at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre on January 11, 2024. He was 99 years old.
Avolt led a fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. He began his career as a sawyer and spent many years working in local mills around Drayton Valley and later in Chisholm.
In addition to his work in the timber industry, Avolt was also a dedicated farmer. In 1949, he took over the family farm in Rocky Rapids from his father and spent countless hours tending to the land. Farming became his passion, and he nurtured the crops with care and dedication.
During summers, Avolt ventured into truck driving, experiencing the open road and connecting with people from various walks of life.
However, Avolt's proudest accomplishment was not found in his career or ventures but in his marriage to Hilde. On January 21, 1955, they joined their lives together and embarked on a beautiful journey as husband and wife.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. His devoted wife Hilde stood by his side for almost seven decades, nurturing their love through thick and thin, and she will miss him dearly.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Dennis (Heather) Richert, Kenny (Tracy) Richert, Debbie (Dan) Carlson, Jerry (Karen) Richert, Bruce (Naomi) Richert, Beverly (John) Hall. Avolt was not only a father but also a friend, guiding his children through life's ups and downs with wisdom and affection. He will also be deeply missed by his numerous grandchildren: Tammy MacDuff, Tracy Bent, Trudy Schulz, Tiffany Tremblay, Jesse Richert, Jessica Ralston, Cynthia Fehr, Barry Carlson, Matthew Carlson, Amberly Terrill, Robbie Richert, Ricky Richert, Dereck Richert, Brittany Ziharr, Autumn Cooper, Johnny Hall. Each grandchild held a special place in Avolt's heart, bringing joy and laughter to his days. In addition to 16 grandchildren, Avolt had 18 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn his passing, is Avolt’s sister, Teresa.
Avolt was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Albertina Richert; siblings, Hertha Drabert, Art Richert, and Eric Richert.
Avolt was known for his kindness and warm demeanor. He had a remarkable ability to connect with others and always lent a helping hand to those in need. His compassion touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on the community he called home.
Avolt's family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Seasons, Dr. Jadi, Dr. Botes, and the staff at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre for the care shown to Avolt.
