Cathy McKinnon

Cathy Edith McKinnon, born January 20, 1958 was taken from us suddenly on Oct 27, 2025. She was born in Bathurst,NB to Alex and Dot McKinnon(nee Harris). Cathy was predeceased by her parents brothers Peter McKinnon, David McKinnon, and brother-in-law Ralph Creed.

Cathy is survived by sister Cynthia Creed, brother Angus McKinnon(Diane), and sister in-laws Susan McKinnon and Debbie McKinnon. She will be greatly missed by her beloved nieces and nephews Shelley, Mike, Meggin, Leslie, Sam, Shawn, & Trisha; and great nieces and nephews Morgan,Jared, Molly, Trystan, Brendan, Riley, Hunter, Addison.

Cathy was always tagging along with her older siblings on their adventures until eventually they became her own. Cathy had a gypsy spirit that took her many places. After moving from New Brunswick to Ignace Ontario, she joined her sister in Yellowknife in 1981, which she called home for 23 years. She spent the last 20 years making her home in Cynthia AB. Cathy built a rich and vibrant life and collected a diverse group of people whom she created deep and meaningful relationships with.

She loved being near the water where she would spend time fishing, bird watching, walking the shorelines and playing on the beaches; especially in warmer climates.

Cathy will be returning to Yellowknife with her sister. A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held in Yellowknife in 2026.

Cathy’s love and passion was contagious and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
