Cody Ludwig, born on October 29, 1985, in Peace River, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at Drayton Valley Hospital with his family by his side. Throughout his 40 years, Cody left a profound mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A man who truly loved to visit with everyone and anyone, his warmth and genuine spirit made every interaction a cherished moment.
From an early age, Cody showed a strong passion for farming. Despite living with disabilities, he devoted countless hours to planning, researching, and dreaming about his future farm. His enthusiasm was a beacon of hope and inspiration. He collected farm toys with delight and brought the countryside to life on his computer, bridging the gap between dreams and reality. Cody’s love extended beyond the soil and machinery; animals held a special place in his heart, and throughout his life, he cared for many beloved pets who were more like family.
Cody’s interests were as colorful as his personality. He was fascinated by the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and his talents as an artist shone through in his drawings. But perhaps most memorable was Cody's remarkable gift for humor. He delighted all with his "thousands" of jokes, each one told with a sparkle in his eye and a contagious laugh. His joy was infectious, creating countless moments filled with laughter and light.
Born into a family that loved and cherished him, Cody was the son of Joyce Matheson and Ken Ludwig, now deceased, and the brother of Dane Ludwig, who also preceded him in death. Surviving Cody are his beloved sisters, Marla (Dan) Emmett and Dana (Jody) Schick, who stood as pillars of strength and love throughout his life and in his final moments. The bond they shared transcended words and remains a testament to the profound love that surrounded Cody.
Cody 's life was a beautiful mosaic of love, joy, and resilience. His indomitable spirit, vast heart, and unwavering optimism will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched. As we remember him, we celebrate a soul who embraced life’s challenges with courage and an open heart, bringing warmth, laughter, and endless kindness to the world around him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
