It is with profound sadness and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Daniel (Dan) Plamondon, a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather on March 23, 2026. Born on February 22, 1961, in Lac la Biche, Dan’s life was marked by unwavering dedication, hard work, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew him.
Dan’s career was a testament to his strong work ethic and versatility. For many years, he managed oilfield facilities with tireless commitment, later transitioning into a role as a hotel manager where his leadership and kindness continued to shine. His willingness to move around for work reflected his determination to provide the best for his family and to support those around him.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dan was deeply involved in the lives of his children, often seen coaching his son’s hockey team and actively participating in their sports activities. His passion for helping others and his skills as a handyman were well known, always ready to lend a hand wherever needed. These qualities echoed his character: kind, dependable, and full of love.
Dan's heart was happiest when surrounded by family. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, delighting in joyful moments of dancing and playing cards. His loving presence brought warmth and laughter into countless homes, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
He is survived by his children Pamela Darou (Jamie O'Connor), Lisa Edwards (Shawn Leslie), and Ryan Plamondon (Bethany); grandchildren Michelle Otway (Cam), Katie Darou (Jordan Combs), Dayton Clark, Hailey Edwards, and Romy Plamondon; great-grandchildren Isla Otway, Jhet Otway, and Jenson Combs; his sister Susan Smith (Darryl); and step-father Reg Doucet (Karen). Their love and support remain a shining beacon in the wake of Dan's passing.
Dan was predeceased by his beloved parents Philias Plamondon and Elizabeth Doucet, his sister Carol Mathews, and brother Leon Plamondon. Their legacy lives on in the hearts of all who mourn his passing.
To honor Dan’s remarkable life, a Celebration of Life will be held on April 2, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the Drayton Memorial Celebration Centre, located at 5029-48th Street, Drayton Valley, AB. It will be a time for family and friends to gather, share stories, and celebrate the enduring impact of a man whose life was filled with purpose, love, and generosity.
Dan Plamondon leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and an enduring love for family that will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with affection and gratitude.
