Jim Keith

Donald James Keith, aka Jim Keith (74), of Entwistle, Alberta suffered a heart attack at his ranch and passed away on April 5, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Donald, fondly known as Jim, was born to Donald Earl Keith and Mary Blanche Keith on January 30, 1950, in La Junta, Colorado, USA.

The Keith family moved to Quesnel, British Columbia in 1965, where Jim finished high school. In 1973, at the age of 23 Jim, bought his homestead south of Entwistle, Alberta, and began his dream of owning his own ranch. He was a talented horseman who loved anything equestrian. Later in life, Jim expanded his ranch to include cows and goats but his passion was always horses and he was a true cowboy.

Jim is survived by his wife Glenna and his two children, Denton Keith (April Hall) and Jennifer Helmkay-Keith (Lloyd Helmkay), and his two grandsons William Keith and Matthew Keith.

He is also survived by his siblings; his sister Karen Buhr and his brothers Gene Keith, Russel Keith, and Dave Hayson. Along with their spouses, children and grandchildren.

As well Jim is survived by his mother-in-law Lois Tuttle, his sister-in-law Maxine Mateyko, and his two brothers-in-law Brian Tuttle and Barry Tuttle along with their spouses, children, and grandchildren.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Blanche Keith, and his father-in-law Mac Tuttle.

Aside from his love for ranching, Jim was passionate about politics and government. He was always willing to share his opinion and listen to the thoughts of others. Jim loved the outdoors, auctions, movies, bluegrass and country music, good food but more than anything his wife Glenna. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good story and a laugh. Jim was a great neighbor and friend who positively impacted our lives and he will be truly missed.

Jim’s family will host a memorial service in the summer of 2024. The date and location are to be determined and will be shared at a later date.
