Elsie Dusterhoft

May 28, 1931 — April 21, 2024

Drayton Valley

With heavy hearts, the family of Elsie Dusterhoft announce her peaceful passing on April 21, 2024, in Drayton Valley, Alberta. She was born on May 28, 1931.

As a strong independent woman, throughout her life Elsie found joy in the simple pleasures of homemaking and caring for her loved ones. She was an avid baker and gardener, participating in local farmers’ markets and agricultural fairs, helping out on the farm, tending to the chickens, peacocks, geese, and other animals. Many were the recipients of her homemade crocheted Afghans, knitted socks, as well as the little Christmas stockings filled with goodies. She also enjoyed sports such as curling and ice fishing. Her warmth and nurturing nature touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Elsie is survived by her sons, Ken (Connie), Dave (Deb), and Marvin (Cathy) Dusterhoft; her brother, Herb (Jane) Zander; sister-in-law, Violet Dusterhoft, and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; parents, William and Wanda Zander; sister, Ruth (John) Nixon; and infant sister, Alma.

Elsie will be remembered for her kindness, love of family, and gentle spirit. Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured with care.

To honor Elsie’s life, a private family gathering will be held, fulfilling Elsie’s wishes.

Donations in Elsie's memory can be made to a charity of one's choice.

Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the staff at Points West, for the compassionate care given to Elsie this past year.

Arrangements in care of Colleen Sekura and Harvey Giesbrecht.
