Ivan Howatt, a romantic, innovative, generous man, known for his community-minded spirit, passed away on March 29, 2024, at Drayton Valley Health Care Centre. He was born in Westfield, Ontario, on May 1, 1942.

Ivan dedicated his life to serving his community and was a respected leader in various capacities. As a 4-H leader and business owner, he touched the lives of many young individuals, teaching and mentoring them while instilling in them the value of continuous learning. Ivan's impact was far-reaching as he challenged others to strive for personal growth and development.

Outside of his leadership roles, Ivan found joy in simple pleasures such as playing Santa at local Christmas events for over two decades. His commitment to bringing happiness to those around him was truly commendable. Additionally, his love for vegetable gardening not only brought him solace but also provided fresh produce that he generously shared with others.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 16, 2024, starting at 1:00 PM at Ponderosa City in Alder Flats. The event aims to honor Ivan's legacy and the positive influence he had on all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ivan is survived by his loving wife, Connie Burgess and his "grandson", Antonie "Charlie" Van Ewyk and a sister, two brothers, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Ontario. Although he may have left this world, the memories of Ivan's kind-hearted nature and unwavering commitment to his community will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who knew him.
