It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Henderson of Delta BC. John died on December 23rd, 2025 at the age of 69. He was surrounded by loving family while visiting his eldest son in Cherhill, Alberta.

Born on July 6th 1956 in Leith, Scotland, suburb of Edinburgh, John was the eldest of two siblings and the only son of Walter and Isabella Henderson (nee Lowther). The family emigrated to Canada when he was just young, and his life was spent predominantly in and around the Vancouver area.

In his younger years John had a passion for scuba diving and spent many days under the waters of the Burrard Inlet. He initially trained and worked as a welder to support his young and growing family, and later relied on various labor jobs in the construction industry to make ends meet.

John was a man who liked to keep busy; the premise of solitude was not one he strove for. Instead, he kept himself motivated by staying physically active, often walking many miles to visit friends or run errands. He was a good son and called his mother most days of the week. In his late thirties, John suffered a debilitating work-related head injury. Despite this, he carried on through life with a smile on his face. John's smile was always genuine, came with a slight sparkle and was shared effortlessly with those around him.

One thing that made John happiest was music. He had a great love for loud, fast rock and roll- the faster, the better! His taste in music was aptly reflected by his disposition in life; John knew not the value of slowing down to smell the roses. Instead, he drank his coffee black and his vodka neat and he charged on through life at a pace that would rival the likes of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. He had a fondness for loud speakers, big screens, and radio headsets. He also had a keen appreciation for pocket knives, and was always eager to showcase his collection.

John accrued some good fortunes in life, not the least of which is evident by the many family members who mourn his passing. Fatherhood did not come easily to him, though he tried his best and maintained relations with all of his children into their adult years. He didn't always make the best choices for himself and this would end up causing hardships difficult to endure. But endure he did, until rest and peace finally offered themselves to him. A soft landing was found in the love and care devoted to him by much of his family during the remaining weeks of his life. John had a heart that was in the right place and it is hoped that his family can find peace in knowing that his final thoughts and memories were ones of a righteous nature.

John is survived by his wife Joni Henderson, their two sons and daughters-in-law John Henderson (Emilie), Christopher Henderson (Satoko), and two daughters and sons-in-law Nicole Krahnbiel (Kevin), and Melissa Henderson (Derek). John is survived by his youngest daughter Samantha Henderson, as well as his 13 grandchildren Kayla, Sidney, Jordan, Harlow, Ryan, Kai, Mason, Caitlyn, Owen, Jace, Rylee, Cali, Ellie and one great-grandchild Adrionna. He is also survived by his sister Susan Henderson (Brian Sweet), aunt Molly and uncle Joki; niece Heather and nephew Tyler. John is fondly remembered by his partner Judy Sullivan, and his passed friend Victor Chin. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Isabella Henderson.

A service in John's memory is to be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre. Thank you to all friends and family who have kept John in your hearts and prayers at this time. May he rest in peace.
