Larry Neil Westlund passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre.
Larry was a loving husband for 39 years to Marj (Pebbles) and devoted father to Lisa, Marci (Lord) and Sarah. He will be missed by his grandchildren; Nick, Ava, and Carter and siblings, Greg, Rita, Nancy Gagne, Shirley (Doug), Roland (Shirley) and Jeff (Jen).
Also mourning his loss are Aunt Fern Forester, Uncle Warren (Gloria) Pearson, Great Aunt Millie Strautman, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.
Larry is predeceased by his parents, Norman and Jeanne Westlund, his in-laws, Nick and Louise Urkevich, his sister-in-law Donna Urkevich and his niece, Brittany Urkevich.
Larry spent over 30 years of his life working for the Town of Drayton Valley, first as the Zamboni driver followed by 16 years at the water treatment plant. He could repair or build just about anything and especially enjoyed building model ships. His friends and family appreciated his sense of humor and endless jokes but what he loved most was spending time with his family. His grandchildren brought new joy to his life, illuminating his face whenever you saw them together. This love was reciprocated as the grandchildren could often be heard saying “Grandma go home…Papa is way more funner”
Larry’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff, nurses, and doctors at the Drayton Valley Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on May 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #269 Drayton Valley.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s memory can be made to Beehive Support Services Association Box 6007, Drayton Valley, Alberta T7A 1R6
