Malcolm "Scotty" Busfield, born on February 13, 1947, in North Yorkshire, England, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the Drayton Valley Hospital. He was a beloved son, father, brother, and grandfather whose life touched many.
Scotty grew up in a world rich in tradition and history, contributing to his character and zest for life. His parents, Eric and Mary Nowell, instilled in him the values of hard work and perseverance, lessons that he carried throughout his life. After making Canada his home, he engaged deeply with his community and shared his passions with those around him.
As an avid restorer of antique tractors, Scotty found joy not only in the meticulous work of restoring these machines but also in participating in various antique tractor shows. These gatherings were not just hobbies to him; they were celebrations of heritage and craftsmanship, where he could share his deep appreciation for history with fellow enthusiasts.
Scotty was known for his wit and wisdom, often sharing his favorite sayings such as "Pot calling the kettle black" and "Don't count your chicks before they hatch." These expressions reflected his keen insight into life, and he used humor and sage advice to nurture the relationships he cherished.
He is survived by his devoted son, Emery Busfield, and his caring daughter, Jo-Ann Busfield, who will remember him as a loving father and mentor. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Dakota Busfield-Olson, Madelyne, and Lyle Brown, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride. Scotty is also survived by his sister, Mary Carrick, who will hold dear the memories of their shared moments.
