Patrick Lee Collins

With great sadness, the family of Pat Collins announces his passing on November 17, 2024 at the age of 72 in the Drayton Valley Hospital. Pat will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Collins and daughter, Lindsey Jorgensen and her husband Aaron and grandsons Chaz and Knox, and Chaz’s father James Rediron and his partner Kristin Lavoie, Pat’s brother Mike Collins (and family) and half brother Greg Collins (and family), Pat’s brother-in-law Rob Morrison, and Pat’s sister-in-law Ruth Morrison and her daughters Joanna McCarty (and family) and Jamie Morrison. 

Pat was predeceased by his parents Ed and Gladys Collins, his parents-in-law John and Mary Morrison and his brother-in-law Gary Morrison. 

Pat was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, and met his wife Shirley in Daytona Beach, who was from Rosser municipality near Winnipeg, Manitoba. Pat worked his way north across the USA to be closer to Shirley and they married in Winnipeg. Work took them to Calgary, rural life drew them to Drayton Valley, Alberta and a close friend, Earl Hayes, drew them to a horse paradise close by.

Pat had a colorful life, with many adventures. He worked mainly in the construction field. Many roads were travelled with family and friends. He cherished the peaceful life he had with his family and on the farm.

 At this time, his family wishes to express their special gratitude to the staff at the hospital, to Pat’s “home girls” Chanese Thomson and Jesse Dyden and to friend Gayle McKay who was there to help support his family in those final hours. 

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Sunday, November 24 at 1:00 pm at CETC 5400 22nd Avenue followed by a light lunch.
