Robert Allan Starrett, born on June 6, 1939, in Topley Landing, British Columbia, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at the Drayton Valley Hospital. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by his family and friends.
Robert married the love of his life, Debbie, in 1984, and together they built a harmonious life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a devoted father to his children, Robert Starrett, Tracey Starrett, and Joleen (Vinnie) Trinh. His role as a grandfather brought him immense pride and joy, as he doted on his grandchildren, Josie, Roman, Marshal, Katrina Starrett, Lawrence, Cowin, and Brielle Charlie.
Known for his unique culinary skills, Robert had a special way of starting each day with an amazing breakfast that often included fluffy pancakes, perfectly cooked eggs, and savory sausages. These meals were more than just breakfast; they were an opportunity for family gatherings filled with warm conversations and hearty laughter.
Robert had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought him happiness. He found great joy in fishing, often taking trips to his favorite spots. His weekly poker nights with friends in Drayton Valley were a treasured tradition, highlighting his social spirit and sense of community. He enjoyed watching sports on television, passionately cheering for his favorite teams—the Toronto Blue Jays and the Vancouver Canucks, though he humorously resigned himself to watching the Edmonton Oilers as well.
Family meant the world to Robert, and his greatest accomplishment was the time he spent with them. He was a man who understood the value of connection and love, qualities that he instilled in those around him.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; his children, Robert, Tracy, and Joleen; his grandchildren, Josie, Roman, Marshal, Katrina, Lawrence, Cowin, and Brielle; and his sister, Celina Austin. He rejoins his beloved parents, Pauline and Martin Starrett, along with his siblings, Harry, Frank, Martina, Violet, and Elsie, who have preceded him in death.
As we remember Robert Allan Starrett, let us hold close the memories of his warmth, laughter, and the incredible breakfasts that fueled many family gatherings. He will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts, cherished as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
