Sharon Hazel Jansen, a cherished wife, Mother, Granny and Great-Granny passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, at the Drayton Valley Hospital. Born on November 23, 1943, in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Mom’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and the beauty found in simple joys.
From a young age, Mom demonstrated a remarkable spirit, marrying her true love, Dad, at just 17 years old. Their steadfast partnership spanned nearly 65 years, a heartwarming story of devotion and companionship that inspired all who knew them. Together, they nurtured a farming life that stretched over six decades, blending hard work with tender care for their home and land. Mom took immense pride in her yard, tending lovingly to her flowers and garden, creating a peaceful sanctuary that echoed the tranquillity she embraced in her daily life.
Though Mom and Dad moved from Saskatchewan to Alberta in 2020 to be closer to family, Saskatchewan remained their forever home. She maintained strong bonds with her many close friends and family members back in Saskatchewan, cherishing those connections until the end.
Mom was a dedicated homemaker whose warmth and nurturing spirit shaped the lives of those around her. She had a gift for making really good bread, a simple pleasure that brought comfort and connection to her family and friends. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Alvin, her loving daughters, Bonnie (Gord Seafoot) Jansen, Barb (Tim) Tluchak, and Tracy (Dean) Schweder. She found joy spending time on the farm with her grandsons, which was evident to all. She leaves behind six grandsons, Kyler (Jennifer) Tluchak, Barrett (Alyssa) Tluchak, Brennan (Maria) Schweder, Connor (Alyssa) Schweder and Ryker (Jaycey) Moreau, and Logan Moreau and five great-grandchildren, Luna Gladu, Eli, Hazel, Lukas, and Theodore Tluchak, whose lives she profoundly touched.
Mom's surviving family also includes her siblings Richard (Alice) Boynton, Iona Scheu, and Carol Atkings; sisters-in-law Clara Boynton and Marj Tasa; brother-in-law Marvin (Sheryl) Jansen; as well as 17 nieces and nephews and a multitude of dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Hazel and Herb Boynton, her brother, Howard Boynton, her brothers-in-law, Russell Tasa, Wes Scheu, and Jack Atkings, her sister-in-law, Ruby (Gerry) Ewanus, niece, Carol Koback, and nephew, Kevin Boynton.
As a beloved matriarch, Mom’s presence brought joy and warmth to all fortunate enough to know her. Her wonderful nature as a wife, mom, Granny, and Great Granny will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff at Points West Living in Drayton Valley and Seasons Retirement Home in Camrose for their compassionate care of our beloved mom.
Mom's legacy of love, patience, and simple happiness will continue to uplift her family and friends for generations to come. May she rest in peace.
