Vant Eric Hayes, a man of warmth and great conversation, has sadly left us. He passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospital on November 8, 2023. Vant was born in Edmonton on June 22, 1936, and throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many as a dedicated husband, father, farmer, and friend.

His loving spouse, Ethel Frieda Hayes, will forever cherish Vant's memory. Their bond was one built on trust, companionship, and unwavering support. Together they weathered life's storms and celebrated its triumphs.

He also leaves behind two daughters who were the light of his life. Peggy Hayes (Gregory) and Christie Hayes (Christopher) brought immeasurable joy into Vant's world. He also leaves his grandchildren; Saldana (Tim) Skramstad, Shiloh Bauman, Shaka Bauman, Dakota McLellan, Austin Seich Hayes, and Tristan Thorne Hayes; also his great-grandchildren, Alannah Elliott, Kaeda Skramstad, Danver Bauman. They were a constant source of inspiration, reminding him of the importance of family bonds and unconditional love. He is also survived by Lloyd Hayes, many extended Family members along with many loved and treasured nieces and nephews.

Vant's circle of family and friends extended beyond those closest to him within his home. He was predeceased by; His parents, Floyd and Elizabeth ( Queenie) Hayes; his grandparents, William and Mollie Hayes; his Siblings, Elizabeth (Harvey Smith), Nellie (Kenneth Whalen), Adrian Hayes, Beatty Hayes, Luvern (Margaret) Hayes, Eugene (Daisy) Hayes, Orville (Marilyn) Hayes, and Cleaveland (Vivian) Hayes were all major pillars in Vant's life. Their love and support carried him through both joyous and challenging times. 

The outpouring of condolences, love, compassion and support that has extended from family, friends and all those who knew Vant has been overwhelming. He was a man of such warmth, great conversation, heartfelt laughter, immense history and knowledge, a man of the land, a husband, a father, a farmer and friend.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and many thanks to Drayton Valley and Red Deer Hospital’s for the quality of care they provided to Vant in his final days. To the many doctors and nurses that assisted in his care, answered questions, offered support, and kindness. To Nurse Rique at Red Deer Palliative Care, your compassion, support and love was deeply felt.

Funeral Services will be held November 17, 2023 at the Breton Community Centre located at 4715 - 50 Avenue in Breton, Alberta. Viewing 12-1pm with funeral services to follow at 1pm. Interment to follow at Breton Cemetery.
