With deep sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Wilfred Kovacs, who passed peacefully at home on August 6, 2026. Born on November 24, 1962, in Wetaskiwin, Wilfred lived a life marked by quiet strength, devotion to his family, and enduring kindness.

Wilfred was the cherished son of Bill Kovacs, who survives him, and the late Doris Kovacs, whose memory he held close throughout his life. He is also survived by his loving sister, Tammy ( Jerry) Jeffcott, with whom he shared lifelong memories and a special sibling bond.

Family was central to Wilfred’s life. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Liam Devlin, Cordell Devlin, Tiana Devlin, and Kyla Rachkewich. His grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy and, in turn, he inspired them with gentle wisdom, patience, and unconditional support. The moments they spent together—filled with laughter, stories, and warmth—will be treasured and remembered by each of them.

Wilfred’s roots in Wetaskiwin, where he was born, shaped the values he carried throughout his life: loyalty to his loved ones, a steadfast work ethic, and a quiet generosity extended to those around him. He found comfort in familiar landscapes and was always guided by a sense of home and belonging.

Though his departure was sudden, Wilfred leaves a legacy illuminated by his integrity, humility, and the relationships he nurtured. Family and friends will remember him as a man whose presence was steady and reassuring. The memory of his kind spirit and enduring love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him best.

A private family graveside service will be held at Easyford Cemetery in Brazeau County.

Wilfred’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out in support during this difficult time. While words cannot fully express the depth of their loss, they cherish every remembrance of Wilfred and the mark he made in the lives of so many.
